About Us
Our Achievements:
- We have proudly served Massachusetts residents since 1972.
- We increased the number of patients served from only 6,761 patients in 1992 to 23,932 patients in 2006. In Framingham, we saw 6,400 clients from March 2004 through September 2007.
- Our clinical quality improvement teams continue to work on improving patient care. These teams include operations improvement, women’s health, HIV, asthma, child behavioral health/ADHD, domestic violence, diabetes/cardiovascular disease, depression, and the emergency room project.
- Our Refugee Health Assessment Program, the second largest program in Massachusetts, serves the most diverse population of refugees in the state. In FY 06 refugees we served came from 23 countries.
- We have increased our language capabilities to serve our clients: 78% of our staff are bilingual, of which 17% are trilingual. Our staff speaks 29 languages and originates from 36 countries.
- Since program inception in 2003, over 5,000 mammograms have been given to low-income, uninsured and underinsured women who otherwise may not have had access to this beneficial cancer screening tool.
- 95% of the women who received prenatal care at Great Brook Valley Health Center and delivered in 2006 breastfed their babies, compared to 73.8% nationwide (most recent CDC data, 2004).
- Great Brook Valley Health Center has participated in Health Disparities Collaboratives on depression, asthma and ADHD. Framingham Community Health Center participates in the MA Health Disparities Collaborative on Diabetes. We have integrated this collaborative model into our other clinical quality improvement teams.
